I really never thought this day would come. Starting Kindergarten was hard enough on me and I thought the start of each school year would get a little easier for me. Guess what....it didn't. The first day of 1st grade was no different.
I received strict orders from Logan that I could walk him in only the first day and then after that he would be dropped off with the car riders. At first he said he wanted to walk in by himself the first day and it made me very sad. But later that evening he said, "I do want you to walk me in tomorrow only". I was relieved to feel that he still needed me!
He promptly went to his assigned desk and starting unpacking his school supplies and began working on his worksheet. He did kiss me and tell me that he loved me but he acted indifferent with the whole process. I had told myself that I wasn't going to cry but I did shed a few tears once I got in the car. It's so hard but so rewarding to see your children prosper and grow. I know before I know it and blink just once, he will be starting his Senior year. You guys will see some tears then!!!
Nothing has changed. Logan still cares very much about his appearance. He was dressed very nice, had his hair gel and hairstyle in place, and had his cologne on. He said that he couldn't use his back pack from last year. He needed a "big boy" one. He picked out an Under Armour bag and fits him perfectly.
We went to the parent meeting last night to learn the expectations for this year. It is going to be a challenging year. The teacher used the example of Kindergarten being like tee ball but 1st grade being like a fast ball being thrown at you. We have all the faith in Logan and know that he can do whatever he sets his mind to. With a lot of prayer and hard work, he will succeed. Pray for us too!!!
