A Work in Progress

Darrell is in the process in laying hardwood floor in our house (the entire downstairs that is not tile). He is using this long weekend to get most of it done. The reason we are having to do this is because Logan decided to bust one of his non-washable blue markers all over the carpet in our living room. Darrell and I tried so hard to get it out. Initially it looked as if it was out but overnight, when it dried, it came back to the surface. We had been talking about taking up the carpet for quite some time. This was our reason to finally do it. Now that it is coming up, we are realizing how dirty it is underneath the carpet. I'll bet our allergies will be better when he is done.

Darrell has his work cut out for him, but as you can tell, he has a very good helper. Logan loves to do whatever Daddy is doing and to learn from him. Darrell is letting him do as much as he can safely do. I cant' wait to see the finished product. I will post "after" pictures when he is done.

To be continued.....................

Game Day Ready

Brooks is ready for his first UT football game!! He got this cute outfit from my friend, Andrea. If you live in Knoxville and you graduated from UT, everyone in your family has to have at least one orange and white outfit. Hopefully the Vols will beat UCLA and have a good season.

GO VOLS!!!

My Cowboy

Logan loves playing dress up. He has a dress up kit that has a firefighter, police officer, cowboy, and pirate. Yesterday's pick was the cowboy. He was so funny running around here with his horse saying "YeeHah". I told him that he looked like Woody from Toy Story.
Brooks also gets entertainment out of watching brother run around here in all of his different outfits. They are both so funny!!

My 2 Month Check Up

Brooks had his 2 month check up on Friday. He weighed 12 lb 10 0z, 22 inches long, and got a very good report from Dr. Greg. He did get 2 shots and wasn't too thrilled with that. He's feeling kinda yucky today but nothing that a little TLC and Tylenol can't fix. We can't wait to see how big he will be at his 4 month checkup.

His newest thing is to "talk" back to whomever is talking to him and he is constantly smiling. He has slept through the night for a couple of nights from 8:30 or 9:00 pm until 5:30 or 6:00 am. It makes you feel like a new person to finally get a full nights sleep again!!! I did wake up in complete fear that he wasn't breathing and ran to his bedside to reassure myself that he was OK. I am not going to get my hopes up for it to continue until he does it for a week or so continuously. Whenever he is ready, we are ready. He is growing so much everyday. I wish I could slow down time. They grow way too fast. I look at Logan now and can still remember him being the size of Brooks. My how time flies. I just thank God every day for two healthy boys.

Logan's Play Date

Brooks had his play date yesterday, so Logan had his today. Logan and Patrick got together for the first time today to play. Patrick's mom, Sonya, and I went to nursing school together at UT and now we have Logan and Patrick who are both 4 years old as well as Brooks and Declan, who are 2 days apart in age. The older boys played so well together and have many of the same interests. Sonya and I were also able to catch up on lost time while they played. I look forward to getting them together again very soon. Logan had so much fun. Thanks Sonya for having us over and sharing your home with us.

Future Doctors

Logan and Patrick played doctor on each other with Patrick's doctor kit. It was so cute to watch them listen with the stethoscope, give shots, look in each other's ears, take temperature, etc. They took turns on each other. It is so funny to me that children love playing with "doctor things", like shots, but when it comes time for them to go to the doctor, they hate it. Either way, we may have a couple of future MD's on our hands.

My New Playmat

This playmat arrived in the mail yesterday. It came highly recommended from a friend and indeed, Brooks does love it. He will smile at all the animals and loves the crinkling sound it makes when he moves around. I am glad that we got it.

Play Date

Brooks got together today with his little girlfriend, Sarah. Sarah is the daughter of Samantha, my good friend that I have known since I worked in the NICU at Vanderbilt. Sarah is two weeks older than Brooks so Samantha and I got to enjoy our pregnancies together as well. Hopefully Brooks and Sarah will grow up to be as good of friends as Samantha and I have become. We not only got the two of them together but Samantha and I got to spend a little time together. I look forward to getting them together again soon.

Brotherly Love

Some new pictures of Logan and Brooks to share with everyone. I know that I have said it before but I cannot wait to watch these two grow up together and watch their relationship evolve. Logan already says that Brooks is his best friend. I love these two sooooo much!!

Mommy's Best Friend

Brooks is wearing a onesie that my mom (Meme) gave us before he was born. It says "if mom was a kid i'd be her best friend". I think it is so cute. Thanks Meme.

Update on Logan: He is so much better. He was sick only until noon on Thursday. He turned the corner after eating a couple of pieces of dry toast for lunch. He ended up eating chicken nuggets for dinner and hasn't looked back.

One Sick, One Smiling

I have both extremes at my house today. Logan is sick with a stomach bug and can't stay out of the bathroom and Brooks is just a smiley little guy. I am thankful that they are not both sick at the same time. My job now is to keep Logan out of Brooks' face so he doesn't get sick too.

Happy Anniversary

Darrell and I are celebrating our 7 year wedding anniversary today. We have been together since 1998 and I can still remember the day we met as well as the day we got engaged. We have had so many good times and good things happen to us in our 10 years together. We have two healthy sons who bless our lives everyday. Darrell is the best daddy and husband anyone could ask for. I am so proud to call him my husband and look forward to many more years together.

This time 2 years ago we were in Mexico celebrating our 5 year anniversary. Our friends Adam, Katie, and Janet went with us to share in the fun. We went back to the same place where we celebrated our honeymoon (Riu Palace, Playa del Carmen, Mexico). We hope to go back......maybe for our 10 year anniversary!!

Papaw Time

Brooks and I went to see Papaw Gary yesterday and spend a little time with him. Brooks loves to be talked to and kissed. Papaw covered all that. Although Logan was not with us because he was at preschool, he enjoys spending time with Papaw as well. The picture of Logan and Papaw was from Christmas 2007. I thought it was a good one of the two of them.

Some Important Visitors

Our friends, Katie and Sophie, who live in Franklin, TN. dropped in for a visit and we had dinner together. It was great to see them and spend a little time together. Logan worked with Sophie on coloring and she even had the honor of wearing the Spiderman mask. She didn't care much for when he was wearing it though. It scared her and made her cry. As her mom says "Halloween will be alot of fun for them this year". We sure do miss all of our good friends who live in the Nashville area and we don't get to see them near enough. Thanks Katie and Sophie for coming to see us!! Come again soon.
