Chaos at the Poteet Household

As many of you mothers know, mornings can be chaos at your house. Trying to get out the door without forgetting something or someone is all you can concentrate on some days. I do good to get them both fed, get everything they need for the day, and not forget to get breakfast and lunch for myself for the day. I can't tell you how many days I leave the house without a coat for me because I worry about getting them all bundled up. This was breakfast at our house this morning. Brooks is wanting Logan's muffin tops so bad he can't stand it. Logan is real good about rubbing it in. He'll lean over toward Brooks and take a big bite. Another sign of things to come, I'm sure.

The many faces of Brooks Reid. He can go from 0 - 60 in no time. I do think he likes to sit in his highchair that we finally got out of the closet.

And last but not least, I thought these pictures of the little man were too cute to pass up. These are some of my favorite PJ's. He's growing so fast. I think that we are finally on the road to getting him better. He ended up on an antibiotic and Singulair. The nurse practitioner that we saw feels like he may have allergies. I am sure he does because I have them really bad (take allergy shots and the whole nine yards). She wanted to try him on Singulair before talking about seeing an ENT doctor for his adenoids. We will hope that Singulair will help him and he won't need surgery.

Special Time with Janet

My very good friend Janet, who lives in Nashville, came to visit us for the weekend. We had such a wonderful time while she was here. It was almost like old times. We did a little shopping, cooking, and just hanging out. We could do nothing but stare at each other and still have a good time. We also went and had a pedicure on Saturday and she went to church with us on Sunday. The boys loved having her here also because they got a lot of extra loving from "Aunt Janet", as Logan calls her.

Janet, thanks so much for coming to see us. We loved having you. Please come back again very soon. We already miss you!!

I bundled Logan up and sent him out to play in the snow, what was left of it anyway. He seemed to have a great time. He cleared an area where he could see the grass and swept all the snow off of things like the deck, patio furniture, etc. I wish we could get a good snow here...something he could build a snowman with and make snow cream. Maybe we will sometime before winter is over.

It's quite humorous to see how I sent him out to play. He was wearing his PJ's, coat, and baseball cleats. He didn't stay out long because the wind is so chilly but I think he had a good time while it lasted.

A Little Bit of Snow, A Lot of Cabin Fever

This is our attempt at a "good snow". It was enough to cancel Knox County Schools today. Darrell was home with both of them yesterday because he was off of work, Logan was out of daycare due to MLK day, and Brooks was sick. He had loads of fun and now I am up today for round two. By looking at the picture below you would not think that he was sick at all. He actually has croup and bronchiolitis. He has had a fever on and off for 3 days now and this cough/congestion has actually been around for over a month. He can't seem to kick it. He may have earned himself an appointment with an ENT to check on having his adenoids removed. Talk about a nervous wreck, I will be if he ends up having surgery. If that will make him feel better and that's what he needs, then we will do it along with a lot of prayer.

Last but not least, if it looks like Logan has been in a chicken fight, he has, but it only involved him. Sometime in the wee hours of Monday morning, he did this to himself. I'm not sure if he was dreaming, if he fell out of bed, ????, but his lip was busted, his nose was bleeding, and he has several big scratches on his nose and face. He looks pitiful. I'm sure if anyone saw him shorty afterward, they would've thought we beat him. When you ask him what he was dreaming about he says he doesn't know or remember. If you ask him if he fell out of bed, he says yes and that he hit the wall. These injuries don't agree with that story.

Darrell and I only thought that Brooks would have been the one waking us up in the middle of the night due to his sickness. Parenting....you never know what you're gonna get!! I wouldn't change it for the world though.

My Chubby Little Man

Here is a before and after of my little man with a big appetite. He has really turned out to be a pretty good eater. He likes all of the vegetables and fruits. He loves rice cereal and would eat as much as I would let him eat. These pictures are during dinner, which for him, was carrots and apples with bananas. I think he had more on his bib than in his mouth at some points. In between bites he likes to chew on his bib. Thank goodness for bath time. I even find food in his nose some nights. :)

I have added a picture of Logan at a similar age with food all over his face.

Logan with green beans galore! What a chubby little guy.

Pajama Time

This is my two happy boys on a lazy Saturday morning. I'm enjoying the few moments of down time before starting my busy weekend. Logan has a birthday party this morning and then I have some errands to run and laundry to do this afternoon. Tomorrow will be church day and then back to work on Monday. The days go by way too quickly. These little guys are such a wonderful greeting every morning. Their smiles and happy hearts just start my day off right.

Communal Bathtub

Logan had the idea to take a bath with Brooks the other night and they had so much fun. Brooks was kicking and splashing and Logan was laughing and squirting him in the face with some of the water toys. Anytime they are together, they are having a good time. One of these days, they are not going to be too fond of these pictures, I'm sure. :) I can think back of a picture of me and my sister in the bathtub together while we were growing up. Wish I had a way to get that on here, although my sister really might get me for that one!!

WARNING

I finally sat down last night and downloaded the long overdue pictures from CD's of Logan in his earlier years along with a few other things. There were over 1,000 of them! It was a walk down memory lane. The following posts will include some of the pictures and thoughts when seeing these again for the first time in a long time. Some of them even brought tears to my eyes and a smile to my face remembering what was happening when it was taken or a special memory behind the picture. I can't believe I haven't done this before now. Pictures are so special!!

I hope that everyone had a good, safe New Year's Eve and that you have a blessed and prosperous new year in 2009.

Remembering 2 Special People Through Pictures

Both of these men were better known as PaPaw. The first one is my PaPaw (my mom's dad), a man that was loved deeply by many. He was the best father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend, and the list goes on and on. I miss him every single day. He was so very special to me. These pictures were taken on a trip to Florida to visit my grandparents. This was the time when Logan met the person he was named after. Logan's middle name is James. I cannot think of a better person to be like!!

Next, these are some pictures of Darrell's dad and Logan and Brooks' PaPaw. The top two pictures were taken at Darrell's surprise 30th birthday party right before Gary left to go to Houston for surgery, chemo, and radiation. The very beginning of his fight with pancreatic cancer. The bottom left is he and Logan Christmas of 2003 and bottom right was the keyboard that PaPaw gave Logan one Christmas. Gary was so proud to see Logan sitting at the keyboard pretending to play and sing since this is what Gary did best. He had a very special gift in his ability to play and sing.

These two men were so special to so many people and they are missed deeply. These pictures just brought back many memories and I had to share them.

Christmas Present, Christmas Past

These two collages speak for themselves. The first one is of our first Christmas with Brooks. The other is a combo of the previous years at Christmas time with just Logan. It is amazing to look back on all of the years of Christmas fun and how much he has grown. I can't wait to see Brooks grow over the years.
